RANDOM NUMBER QUESTIONS CREATED Associate Professor David Hewitt of Monash University in Australia has developed a new method for including JavaScript in QML to generate random numbers for use in questions. The random numbers can be used in mathematical calculations to create questions with answers that are conditional on the calculations of the random numbers in the question stem. Commented Question Mark's Martin Belton: 'During our roadshows, the ability to use random numbers in questions has been one of the most common requests from our educational users. So I've no doubt that this will be a most popular addition to the Perception product range." PERCEPTION FOR WINDOWS RELEASE DATE SET Perception for Windows, the latest version of Perception, has been scheduled for release in August. The new software retains the existing online solution's authoring applications, but will add a new Presenter tool to enable tests to be delivered in static environments. There will also be a new easy-to-use reporting tool. A beta version of Presenter is already available on Question Mark's website. Explained UK Sales Manager Philippa Bean: "We're already taking to customers about Perception for Windows and encouraging them to try out the Beta copy. Perception for Windows will extend the number of ways that users can deliver tests, without changing the structure of questions. We believe that this is a major step forward towards providing our users with the complete CAA solution."
